Weekly Unlock Digest: Oct 19-25, 2026 | LayerZero Releases 3.83% of Unlocked Supply

🔑 Key Takeaways
- Bitcoin briefly lost $80,000 after a hot September PPI print before recovering to about $82,000, and spot Bitcoin ETF outflows slowed after the prior week's $681M.
- $ZRO's October 20 unlock goes mainly to insiders, but it arrives alongside a live ZRO buyback funded by Stargate revenue, with a second planned through ATLAS fees.
- NeoSoul's $DNA launched with 13% of its 1B supply circulating, leaving most supply still to be released.
- Osmosis is proposing to fund staking entirely from protocol revenue and pause developer vesting, which would remove OSMO's ongoing emissions if passed.
Weekly Recap
Macro data drove crypto last week. September U.S. CPI printed at 3.7%, above expectations. Producer prices were hotter: PPI rose 1.3% month-over-month, the largest monthly gain since March 2022.
Bitcoin reacted on Thursday, briefly slipping below $80,000 before buyers lifted it back to around $82,000 by Friday. Fed Chair Warsh gave no rate guidance in remarks on Friday, and traders pared their bets on an October hike. ETF outflows slowed after a difficult prior week, when spot Bitcoin ETFs shed $681M (ending three straight weeks of inflows) and Ether ETFs lost $542M.
Top Buybacks of the Week

Hyperliquid remained the largest buyer by a wide margin, accounting for roughly two-thirds of the top-five total. $LIT stayed in the top five in the same week Lighter burned the 2.45M LIT it had repurchased through Q3.
Upcoming Events
Next week’s scheduled cliff unlocks total about $126 Million in value. Dollar figures are marked at October 18, 2026. Top tokens facing the largest cliff unlocks next week include $ZRO, $XPL, $H, $SOSO, and $SOON.

Unlock Spotlight: $ZRO
- Unlock date: October 20, 2026
- Unlock amount: $43.54M
- Unlock as % of unlocked supply: 3.83%
- Vested allocation: Private Investors, Founder/Team
This release is part of LayerZero's monthly linear schedule, with eight monthly unlocks remaining after October 20 (the last on June 20, 2027). Because the tokens go to investors and core contributors, the unlock could introduce selling pressure risk, particularly after ZRO rose about 82% from early September to about $1.86 (Sep 1 to Oct 18 closes).

The demand side has changed since earlier unlocks. LayerZero continues to buy ZRO on the open market using Stargate revenue, bringing cumulative purchases to about 2.54M ZRO. ATLAS, the headless exchange built on LayerZero's Zero blockchain, is designed to route 75% of post-venue economics into buying and burning ZRO once it launches. ATLAS's contribution will depend on the trading volume it actually captures. The protocol fee switch stayed off after the June 2026 vote, with no next vote date published. Whether buybacks can absorb the monthly insider releases remains the key question for the coming months.
New TGEs on the Radar
NeoSoul ($DNA)
NeoSoul is an AI economic infrastructure project that held its TGE on October 16, with $DNA listing on Binance Alpha and KuCoin.
- Total supply: 1,000,000,000 DNA
- Circulating at TGE: 130,000,000 DNA (13%), per the project's tokenomics document
- Release schedule: Team token lockups are linked to KPIs under the "Believe" plan announced on TGE day
The low initial float means most of $DNA's supply has yet to enter circulation, so the pace of future releases will matter for how the market values the token. The KPI-linked team lockups are an uncommon design choice: they tie insider liquidity to performance targets rather than to fixed dates. NeoSoul also plans to prioritize DNA for internal settlements and pay part of employee compensation in DNA and to accept only DNA on NeoTrade, which could create recurring demand if those products gain traction.

100 year dream.
call it crazy. this one's ours.
ai agents already think, ping APIs, and settle payments on their own. their economy needs a single unit of account. that's $dna.
we're betting the whole company on it.

Notable Tokenomics Updates
Osmosis: Proposal to End OSMO Inflation
Osmosis contributors have proposed stopping new OSMO issuance entirely. Staking rewards would be funded solely from protocol revenue rather than newly minted tokens, and the community pool would stop receiving newly minted OSMO. The proposal also suspends daily developer vesting, leaving about 51.9M OSMO in the module account until governance approves any future distribution.
The proposal is in forum discussion, with on-chain submission planned for October 20. If approved, it would take effect from the first daily epoch after passage and remove OSMO's emissions-driven supply growth, while making staking yields depend on protocol revenue.
Proposal: end OSMO inflation.

New OSMO minted per day goes to zero. At the current burn rate, that means ~2% of supply burned a year, with nothing minted to offset it.
Staking rewards would come entirely from protocol revenue.

Lighter: Q3 Buyback Burned
Lighter burned 2,452,017 LIT on October 12, matching the total repurchased through its programmatic buyback by the end of Q3. The move turns previously repurchased tokens into a permanent supply reduction.
We've executed the burn of 2,452,017 LIT, which is the amount of tokens programmatically bought back through the end of Q3 2026.https://t.co/RiurBhxtJp

Sonic: Unclaimed Airdrop Burn
Sonic Labs burned 5.9M unclaimed S on October 15, after the final claim deadline for its Season 1 and Season 2 airdrops. About 32.69M S was still unclaimed when Sonic set the deadline in April. Sonic has ruled out minting new tokens for these allocations.
5.9M S burned! 🔥
— Sonic (@SonicLabs) October 16, 2026
As previously communicated, unclaimed tokens from the Sonic airdrop were scheduled to be burned.
On October 15, the burn was triggered permissionlessly onchain, permanently removing 5.9M S from circulation.
